Up for auction/sale is a wonderful vintage 19th-century copper-nickel classic from the United States Mint—a 1857 Flying Eagle Cent (Philadelphia Mint issue with no mint mark), graded in solid Good 6 (G-06) condition.

Struck in Philadelphia during the final year of the oversized large cent series, this historic small cent holds the distinction of being the very first year of the Flying Eagle design. Designed by James B. Longacre, the obverse features Christian Gobrecht's majestic soaring eagle adapted from the 1836 pattered silver dollars, while the reverse displays a simple wreath enclosing the denomination "ONE CENT". Preserved in collectible Good 6 condition, this specimen displays slightly stronger definition and sharper lettering than a base G-4 piece, offering an honest, highly desirable historical presence for the vintage type collector.
