Up for auction/sale is an authentic, highly collectible piece of early 20th-century American coinage—a 1917-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar in Good 4 condition. Struck at the historic San Francisco Mint during the very second year of Adolph A. Weinman’s iconic design series, this key early date carries over a century of genuine U.S. history and numismatic appeal.

Issued as the United States entered World War I, early San Francisco mintage Walking Liberty half dollars are notoriously tough to locate with honest wear and original surfaces. Featuring Weinman’s world-famous Walking Liberty obverse design—which went on to inspire the modern American Silver Eagle—this piece represents a fundamental building block for any serious U.S. type set or date-and-mint-mark collector.
